Emotion Management for Adults with AS

Minds and Hearts now offer a downloadable presentation on Emotion Management for Adults with Asperger's Syndrome.

The aim of this presentation is to provide adults with Asperger's Syndrome strategies for dealing with strong negative emotions, including stress, anger and depression. The neurobiology of these emotions is presented, and evidence-based strategies described, including cognitive behaviour therapy, stress innoculation, and the benefits of including relaxation and physical exercise within a weekly schedule.

Presenters: Dr Michelle Garnett & Stephen Heydt

Michelle is a clinical psychologist and founder and Director of 'Minds & Hearts: A Specialist Clinic for Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism.’ The clinic was born through her passion for understanding autism spectrum conditions (ASC), and her strong desire to be part of positive change for people who have ASC and their families. Michelle thoroughly enjoys working in this area as a diagnostician, therapist, consultant, mentor, clinical supervisor, workshop presenter,  and researcher. She has specialized in autism spectrum conditions for the past 20 years, developing expertise in all subtypes of autism across all ages.  Stephen Heydt is a clinical psychologist with over thirty years experience providing treatment across all ages, abilities and a range of problems. Both psychologists practise at Minds and Hearts and excel in providing diagnostic assessment and intervention for adults with ASC. Each are warm, knowledgeable and engaging speakers.
